Role Overview
The successful candidate will have good technical and problem-solving skills, with a positive, results driven attitude. If you are enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate for technology, have experience with technologies such as Java, dependency injection, inversion of control, application servers or event streaming and are willing to make your mark and contribute to a platform that supports millions of active users then this role is a good match for you.
This position involves working with and being part of a cross-skilled development team and will have regular contact with teams looking after other aspects of Sportsbet products & tools.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Have good knowledge of secure coding and best practices
- Work independently on tasks without assistance
- Think about multiple solutions when faced with a task; express pros and cons when choosing an approach
- Implement robust solutions that work under load and offer performance
- Proactively identify insecure coding issues and plan remediation
- Make sure there is proper documentation for owned components
- Suggest improvements to the methodology in use
- Be familiar with multiple software development methodologies and actively contribute to team and group meetings
- Participate in code reviews with peers
- Provide guidance to junior colleagues
Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required
- Object-oriented analysis and design skills
- Proven development experience using Java-based frameworks
- Understanding of SQL databases, understanding of ORM frameworks (Hibernate, JPA)
- Focus on application performance and scalability
- API oriented development
- Basic experience with NoSQL databases
- Exposure to Linux based operating systems
- Familiarity with AWS / Cloud computing
- Experience with messaging technologies (e.g. Kafka, ActiveMQ)
- Knowledge of caching systems (e.g. Redis)
